We will miss her constance in our lives, her direction and sheltering love. While we mourn her loss , we are grateful to you all for joining us in celebrating her life. May she RIP.

Mom. It was an honor having you as a mother. You taught us right, and your strong Faith constantly sustained us all. Your love for all always radiated from your smile, and taught us to how to love. You bonded us as a family and kept us as one. We shall miss you, but we shall keep your lessons. We celebrate who you were to all, even beyond the immediate family. We love you.

Dear mum, No words can Express the gap you have left in our hearts. But Today l am proud of you for being so kind and caring. May the Lord reward you in heaven for your Contribution on this earth. Love you and will miss you. Your daughter Edah Rose.

Pole sana Betty, your children, grandchildren and the entire Sabwa family for the loss of mama. She was beautiful in and out, stood with our family all the time we had an issue. Attended all Asoka funerals even if it was a little kid. God has been good because i didn't know she would survive after the death of her dear husband & best friend. I remember the beautiful words she said to him that  night before the burial day. #Mzee, my  friend, please release me to go lay down and  rest.. Am going not because I dont want to stay out with you but because of my health which you've been concerned about. Tomorrow will be a big day since you have many visitors, I need that strength to manage the day. Now am leaving you surrounded by all these people who love you soo much to be with you tonight. Let's celebrate the matriarch's life. May God's grace be sufficient.

Gukhu was consistant and indiscriminate in her kindness and love. It is how come we all have the same cathedral in our hearts and souls, where she sits knitting and flashing smiles. I'll miss those private 'earshot only' catchups she prompted, when one visited. It was deeply moving and gratifying to watch her show that same love and interest towards Sandra in 2017.

Rest in eternal Peace Mama Racheal Sabwa.. you positively impacted our  lives in Keveye village.. Fond memories of you and your departed Mzee Simeon Sabwa... I strategically passed by your shop on my way to Vihiga High and was assured of some top up for bus fare, bread and soap...can't forget the Patcos Mama.. " Nyasaye akuhaniri ovogeri, Osome ni zinguru " was your rally call.. and your prayers in pure Lulogooli dialect was stunning..." Dada wu Mwami witu Yeso Kristo mmbuvaga oveye Nyasaye, kukwidzominya umugamba gwa rero kuvulamu ...." Nostalgic! I volunteered to clean up your compound as a bet to watch Diego Maradona in the 1986 world cup in Mexico on your black and white TV set when 'Kaguru' had locked other boys out.. while in primary school, I recall the numerous times we sneaked on your farm and helped ourselves on sugar cane, bananas 'amengu',  pawpaws et al..😀.. You set up  the energy saving Jikos in your home and trained many women folks on the use.. with 'Gineda' as you fondly called her...my mum (RIP) on your side... never ever saw you idle, if not reading the Bible or humming hymnals from TTN (Tsinyimbu Tsya Nyasaye), Knitting was your big hobby! Visitors to your home never left without carrying 'omutere, livogoi, zisaga, imito...' Your contribution to the Quaker Church growth was immeasurable Mama Kenya... USFW is minus with your demise! I celebrate a life well lived..

Guku, my best friend, my namesake, you were truly special. You may have passed on, but your memories would always live within us. Your life was full of loving deeds, you always prayed for us, you prayed for my son, you encouraged me every time we spoke. I remember waking up to your melodic voice as you sang hymns of praise. I learnt a lot of my luhya hymns then! One of your favorite songs was “ukimaliza kazi utavalishwa taji”. You deserve your crown QUEEN MOTHER, because yours was truly a life well lived. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race and kept the faith. Rest in Peace Grandma. Always and forever.

Celebrating Mama Rachel Sabwa Dear Sabwa Family I received news of Mama Rachel's  passing on Friday 5th May 2023 with great sadness. I regret that l'm failing to speak with Sabwa family by phone at this time due to Network problems. I join the Sabwa family, relatives and friends in a loving Celebration of Mama Rachel's well lived, and long life-span. She has richly enhanced all our lives over several decades and  generations. We thank God for blessing us with her loving, creative and gentle spirit. I'm personally blessed to have spent a few hours visiting with Mama Rachel each time l return home. She's always reminded me of the strong ties that bind the Sabwa and Adagala families and has helped to fill the gap left by the early departure of our own Mama Erica Doris. I know that the Sabwa family will greatly miss Mama Rachel. May her memory live on among them  and us all...for ever. May God grant Her Departed Soul Rest in Eternal Peace! I look forward to information about  arrangements for Mama Rachel's Final Journey Home.

Because words simply cannot describe what you were and still are. We had you for so many wonderful years and could never imagine you suddenly not being there. You were love in its purest form, encouraged us, celebrated our triumphs, picked us up when we fell, you just had that inexplicable strength, you never faltered. You were the glue and pillar for a large family, and you instilled values in us which makes us such a close-knit family where we are always there for each other no matter what. You not only cared for your family but for all those around you and you so selflessly reached out to help. Rest easy, you lived a memorable life, your work here is done, and we will pick up where you stopped. We will remember you fondly, even through our tears, we still smile when we think of all the great memories we are left with as you go on your final journey.

The physical reality of this moment cuts so deep. I do pray that we can all find some solace in the gift of your undying essence which fed firmly and so deeply into all souls you touched. While Grief stricken, I am equally awestruck by your endless capacity to affect all things positive. The world is an immeasurably better place having had you in it and now with you in us. We will do you proud. Rest in eternal grace.

Grandma, a best friend, a mentor. We thank God for the time He allowed us to learn from her and to experience her love. Truly thank God for the precious times and moments that we were privileged to spend with this precious gem, who influenced us to honor God. Guku always reminded us that, the most important thing in life is to live a peaceful life, a life of faith and trusting in God. Her phrase, “Uyanze Nyasaye na umenye ni mirembe na vandu vosi” will forever ring a bell in my ears. Guku, a compassionate giver. She didn't amass anything for herself but rather always extended a helping hand to those who really needed it. We have learnt to be diligent, dutiful, responsible, God fearing, kind, compassionate and caring through the hands of our grandma. She was a pillar of the home. Even as much as she would no longer be physically with us, her great deeds live within us. Her selfless acts of generosity and kindness cascade to us and even for the generations to come. Her love remains implanted in our hearts, her awesomeness imprinted on our faces, her memories stuck in our minds. And today and in the days to come, we celebrate her. We thank God for allowing us to spend such joyous life occasions and wisdom with Guku. And even today as we face one of the toughest seasons in our lives to bid Guku farewell, Guku once taught me from Ezekiel 37 "This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life”. Just the way God gave life to the dry bones, God gives joy and life in the toughest seasons in our lives. May her dear soul rest in eternal peace.

In these past few days, my heart has been heavy with sorrow. The loss of my dear grandmother has left a void that words cannot fully express. She was more than a mere presence in my life; she was an extraordinary inspiration and a beacon of light. Whenever I returned to our humble village, a profound warmth would envelop my being, for I knew that Grandma's loving spirit was there, watching over me. Unbeknownst to her, she bestowed upon me a boundless well of hope, spurring me onward in my endeavors. Her sweet smile, her radiant aura, and her unparalleled ability to make everyone feel cherished were constant reminders of the love that encompassed our lives. Today, we gather to honor and celebrate you, Grandma, and the indelible mark you have left upon our hearts. Your influence was profound, and your actions touched our lives in countless ways. Your love knew no bounds, and it continues to transcend even in your absence. Though you may no longer be with us physically, I find solace in knowing that you are watching over us from above. Grandma, you are my guiding light, my world. I am comforted by the unwavering belief that you will forever remain by our side, providing strength and love when we need it most. The memories we shared, the lessons you imparted, and the immeasurable love you showered upon us will forever be cherished. In this tribute to you, Grandma, know that my love for you knows no bounds. Your presence may have transcended the earthly realm, but your spirit lives on within us, inspiring us to be kind, loving, and resilient. Until we meet again, I will carry your love in my heart, and I will strive to make you proud. With all my love
